Environment was cosy just like how a small French bistro in France looks like. Have not seen such fresh and huge prawns in awhile for a pasta, sauce was more towards the French taste loving it. Pate was done nicely so lyonnaise. Portion of every was good. Overall a pleasant place for a French fix.
Thank you dear wife for reminding me not to “waste money” on flowers for our Wedding Anniversary, just do a simple dinner for our night out.
And…I arranged a simple dinner just for the two of us at the Le Bistro du Sommelier; a small bistro.
The bistro could seat 32 pax in their air conditioned hall (apparently they could also serve alfresco outside the restaurant if there’s more diners). This evening the dining hall was nearly fully occupied.
The creative wine glasses Chandeliers caught our attention the moment we entered the lightly but pleasantly decorated restaurant.
The service staff were very polite and helpful.
We ordered their popular Cote de Boeuf, which was 1kg of oven roasted Angus prime beef rib with half dozen of Escargots as our starter.
The Escargots were nicely baked in chopped spinach and probably garlic and olive oil, excellent spread for the bread.
The 1kg prime rib came with the bone, wonderfully baked till medium rare (per our request). Although the beef was only salted, it tasted so delicious with onions and garlic.
Two sides of salads were offered - Sauteed broccolini with Parmesan cheese and Heirloom Beetroot with walnut dressings. Both were very delicious.
Wrapped up the dinner with Coconut Soufflé and Caramel Butter ice cream .
Overall the meal was very wonderful. It would be an excellent evening if only the restaurant wasn’t so noisy. Some diners were speaking and laughing so loudly, the noises echoed within the closed walls spoiling the ambience of dining there.
It was a nice Dinning experience, quiet and cozy, staffs are friendly, the service is fast, the food we ordered overall are good - I would like to recommend their chicken liver with bread and the main course lamb sharing! The Escargot is small and nothing special though. Next time will try their claypot duck confit, seems quite unique also.
Since it was the birthday celebration, the dessert come out with “happy birthday” which is a plus! When you make the reservation, just indicate the occasion will do.
Hanger steak with fries: 9/10

- good crust on the steak and doneness nailed
Duck confit: 8/10

Cozy atmosphere
Came here for a birthday celebration with my partner. Had never had proper French cuisine and this came highly recommended.
We reached early and they were brought us to the bar on the second floor for drinks until our table in the main dining area was ready. The main dining area is surprisingly small and cosy, like a proper family-run restaurant.
Was properly blown away by the food - rich, tasty, cooked to perfection.
First time having rabbit as well in the form of rabbit rillette. We also had the duck rillette, and each meat had a different taste to it, but both excellent.
Had steak and beef tartare for mains and absolutely loved the beef tartare with the tangy taste. Finished the night with 2 desserts, one creamy and chocolatey, and the other was an apple sorbet with alcohol.
Would come back again.
Really a fantastic place to catch up with family and friends. They serve authentic French food in generous servings! The staff are attentive and friendly! A must come if you are looking for amazing French food👍
Le Bistrot Du Sommelier excels with its amazing food and impeccable service. I appreciate how they provide excellent, tailored recommendations for the size of the group, and I’ve enjoyed everything they suggested.
A decent French cuisine with a classic atmosphere. I personally liked the pasta. Prawns were very big and fresh, pasta was flavourful and refreshing.
